 최근 반주년 기념 쇼케이스에서 대규모 업데이트 계획을 발표한 ‘카오스 제로 나이트메어(이하, 카제나)’가 홍대에서 직접 이용자를 만난다.

 스마일게이트는 25일 홍대 크레마 카페에서 론칭 반주념 기념 이벤트 카페 ‘나이트메어 가든 티파티’를 개장했다. 25일은 오후 5시부터 이용자를 맞이하며 26일부터 5월 5일까지는 오전 9시 30분부터 오후 9시 20분까지 총 8타임의 타임 테이블로 운영된다.
 현장을 찾은 이용자들은 게임 캐릭터와 ‘붕괴’ 콘셉트를 살린 디저트 세트 메뉴, 유명 코스프레 모델과의 포토 타임 이벤트를 즐길 수 있다. 또 현장의 굿즈 샵에서 아크릴 스탠드, 장패드, 키링, 캔뱃지 등 다양한 굿즈를 구입할 수 있다. 굿즈 구입 액수에 따라 포토 카드와 렌티큘러 엽서 등 한정 굿즈도 받을 수 있다.
 오는 28일 저녁엔 카제나 업데이트 쇼케이스 ‘라이브 뷰잉 이벤트’가 열린다. 해당 시간대에 예약한 이용자들이 함께 모여 쇼케이스 방송을 시청하며 이야기를 나누는 이벤트다.
 스마일게이트 김주형 사업실장은 “출시 후 우여곡절이 많았지만 이용자와의 직접적인 접점을 만들 자리는 초기부터 준비 중이었고 반주년 업데이트를 통해 실현할 수 있었다”라며 “한국을 비롯해 일본, 대만에서도 컬래버 카페를 진행 중이고 서브컬쳐 행사 참여를 적극적으로 계획 중”이라고 밝혔다.

 이날 현장에선 카제나 개발진과의 미디어 인터뷰도 진행됐다. 인터뷰에는 슈퍼크리에이티브 최승현 라이브 디렉터, 김기범 전투담당, 스마일게이트 김주형 사업실장이 나와 질문에 답변했다.

 최승현 라이브 디렉터는 “그간 죄송하다, 열심히 하겠다는 말만 했는데 콘텐츠와 밸런스를 갖춘 업데이트를 선보일 예정이기에 자신이 생겼다”라며 “앞으로도 많은 관심과 사랑, 응원을 부탁드린다”라고 밝혔다.
 다음은 일문일답.
 ▲출시 이후에 쉽지 않은 시간이 있었다. 반주년을 맞아 지금까지의 카제나를 돌아본다면?
 최승현: 지금까지 앞만 보고 달려오면서 놓친 것, 못한 것, 챙기지 못한 것에 대한 아쉬움이 항상 남는다. 늘 방송에서도 죄송하다고 말했던 게 게임이 떳떳하지 못한 상황이었기 때문이다. 그래도 이번 반주년 업데이트에서는 자신감을 찾고 당당히 말씀드릴 수 있을 것 같다. 게임 전체 서비스에 있어서도 변곡점으로 생각해 많은 기대 중이다.
 ▲이렇게 오프라인 행사를 진행하게 된 계기가 궁금하다.

 ▲카페 운영 기간 중에 이용자와 직접 만날 계획이 있는가?
 최승현: 아직 업데이트를 준비하고 있고 라이브 이슈 대응도 해야 해서 계속 회사에 있을 예정이다. 그대로 이용자들이 이런 나의 실물이라도 보고 싶어 하신다면 최대한 시간을 내보겠다.
 김주형: 이용자들이 라이브 디렉터를 보고 싶어 한다. 바쁘더라도 이용자와 만나겠단 이야기를 했던 만큼 나도 기대 중이다.
 ▲이번 반주년 카페는 단순 행사를 넘어 카제나 IP를 확장하는 측면에서도 의미가 있을 듯하다. 1주년이 아닌 반주년을 변곡점으로 삼은 이유가 있나?
 김주형: 반주년 업데이트르 통해 카제나의 게임성이 크게 변화한다. 개발팀은 올해 초부터 반주년에 맞춘 변화를 준비하고 있었다. 단순히 보상을 많이 주는 걸 넘어 카제나의 로그라이크 게임성을 강화하는 출격 콘텐츠, 신규 캐릭터, 게임 편의성 개선 등 전반적으로 게임을 크게 변화시키려고 노력했다. 지금까지 플레이한 이용자들, 새롭게 들어 올 이용자들도 모두 만족할 업데이트라 생각한다.
 ▲IP 확장과 관련해 어떤 계획이 있는가?
 김주형: 지금 가장 중요한 건 게임을 더 재미있게 만드는 것이다. 하지만 그외엔 IP 확장에 진력을 쏟고 있다. IP 확장엔 여러 개념이 있을 텐데 회사에서 제공하는 오프라인 이벤트, 굿즈는 1차적이다. 궁극적으로는 이용자들이 IP를 활용해 2차 창작을 하는 문화를 만들고 싶다. 앞으로 2차 창작 지원, 리소스 공개 등 이용자와 함께 만들어가는 카제나가 되려고 한다.
 ▲타지역 콜라보 카페는 어떻게 운영 중인가? 앞으로의 오프라인 이벤트 운영 계획도 듣고 싶다.
 김주형: 일본에서는 이틀 전부터, 대만은 25일부터 컬래버 카페를 운영한다. 북미에서는 올 여름 오프라인 행사에 참여해 현지 이용자를 만날 예정이다.
 ▲라이브 뷰잉 이벤트를 진행한다고 했다. 현재 안내로는 이용자들끼리 방송을 같이 보는 것 외엔 별다른 메리트가 없는데 준비 중인 게 더 있는가?
 김주형: 최승현 라이브 디렉터, 김기범 전투 담당은 그날 방송을 해야 해서 카페에는 오지 못 한다. 그래도 집에서 보는 것보다 카제나 카페에 와서 보는 게 더 즐거울 수 있는 색다른 이벤트를 준비 중이다. 지금은 그렇게만 말씀드리겠다.
 ▲이제 5월부터는 다양한 행사가 있을 예정이다. 요새는 게임사들이 서브컬쳐 행사에도 참여하는 분위기인데 카제나도 그럴 계획이 있나?
 김주형: 게임은 물론 서브컬쳐 행사 참여를 적극적으로 계획 중이다. 다만 1~2개월을 넘는 장기 계획이 필요하기에 현재는 길게 보고 행사 스케줄을 정리하고 있다.
 ▲마지막으로 카제나 이용자들에게 전하고 싶은 말이 있다면.
 최승현: 그간 죄송하다, 열심히 하겠다는 말만 했는데 이번에 콘텐츠와 밸런스를 갖춘 업데이트를 선보일 예정이기에 자신이 생겼다. 앞으로도 많은 관심과 사랑, 응원을 부탁드린다.
 김기범: 이용자들의 의견은 출시 이후 반주년까지 달려올 수 있었던 원동력이었다. 새로운 콘텐츠도 많이 즐겨주시면서 응원 보내주시면 또 힘을 얻어 1주년을 향해 달려가겠다.
 김주형: 카제나는 출시 초기부터 게임 플레이의 재미 만큼은 다른 게임과의 차별화 포인트가 될 거라 봤다. 반준년 업데이트에서 그동안 있었던 여러 아쉬움을 해소할 예정이다. 심혈을 기울여 개선한 만큼 카제나를 통해 로그라이크 덱빌딩의 재미를 다시금 선보일 수 있기를 바란다.
