 안녕하세요! [겜덕 연구소]를 운영하고 있는 조기자입니다. 이번에도 레트로 게임 전문가이신 검떠 님을 모셨습니다. 이번 시간에는 라스베가스에 위치한 레트로 게임 전문점 '위 유 플레이 게임'에 가서 느낀 여러 소감으로 꾸며보도록 하겠습니다.

 조기자 : 안녕하세요 검떠님, 반갑습니다. 오늘은 이전과 전혀 다른 형태의 포스팅이 될 것 같습니다. 미국 라스베가스에 출장간 김에, 인근 레트로 게임 전문점을 찾게 된 것이죠. 바쁜 출장 일정 중에 겨우 반나절 정도 시간이 났고.. 열심히 검색해서 제일 규모가 크고 아름다운? 곳을 찾게 되었습니다.
 검떠: 귀한 포스팅이 될 것 같네요. 쉽게 갈 수 있는 곳은 아니니까요. 그래도 라스베가스 하면 바로 옆에 있는 '그랜드 캐년'에 여행가시는 분들이 계실텐데, 이번 포스팅을 살펴보시고 향후 그랜드 캐년에 놀러가게 되면 이 매장도 꼭 들러보시길 바랍니다. 
 조기자: 그러게요. 생각해보니 저도 지난 2023년에 그랜드 캐년에 가본적이 있지요. 당시 헬기투어를 신청해서 다녀왔었는데, 아주 장관이었습니다. 한 번쯤 꼭 가보시는 게 좋을 것 같습니다만.. 최근 환율이 너무 비싸서 당장은 추천을 못드리겠네요

 검떠: 역시 그랜드 캐년은 장관이군요. 헬기를 타면 끝없이 펼쳐진 협곡을 보실 수 있었겠네요. 부럽습니다. 
 조기자: 아 정말 좋더군요. 다만 담배를 많이 피시는 분들은 미국이나 유럽 자체 방문이 쉽지 않겠죠. 검떠님도 담배를 자주 피우시니 어느정도 각오를 하고 가셔야 할 겁니다 CES 행사 사진도 2-3장 정도 올려볼테니 분위기를 느껴보시죠.

 검떠: 자아.. 그랜드 캐년과 CES 2025도 사진을 한두 장 주셨지만.. 정작 중요한 건 아니었죠. 라스베가스에 위치한 레트로 게임점을 방문하게 되셨다고요?
 조기자: 그렇습니다. 레트로 게임점을 검색했더니 몇 군데 나오던데, 그중에서도 가장 크고 재밌어보이는 곳으로 갔습니다. CES 행사가 열리는 곳에서 크게 멀지는 않았네요. 대충 5마일 정도? 
 행사 취재 자체가 엄청 바빴지만, 반나절 정도 짬을 내어서 다녀왔습니다. 이름도 너무 멋지지 않습니까? '위 플레이 게임즈'라니..

 검떠: 와우~! 꽤 넓은데요? 
 조기자: 네에. 들어오는 순간 잘 왔다 싶더라고요.그래서 1시간 정도 돌아보는데 구석 구석 정말 물품도 많았고, 군침 흐르는 제품들도 많았습니다. 우선 레트로 게임이 아닌 장식장 물품 등을 먼저 소개해드리겠습니다.

 검떠: 와.. 피규어와 가방 대박이네요. 그리고 얼마나 규모가 큰지 알 수 있네요. 레트로 게임 뿐만 아니라 피규어도 많이 취급하는군요.
 조기자: 곳곳에 장식물들도 너무 이뻤고, 탐이 나는 것들이 많았습니다. 의외로 일본 피규어도 많아서 놀랐네요. 어떻게 다 공수한 거지? 싶더라고요.
 다양한 굿즈들이 많아서, 정신 안차리면 죄다 구입했을 제품들이 많더군요. 지갑은 옛날에 대만 토이쇼에서 봤던 물품들인데 왜 여기에 와 있는 것인지..

 조기자: 당연하게도 북미판 중심으로 다양한 레트로 게임기와 레트로 게임이 있었습니다. 물론 요즘 환율로 1500원 곱하면 절대 구입하기 쉽지는 않은 가격이었는데요, 이런 물건들을 팔고 있구나~ 정도로 생각해주시면 되겠습니다. 
 확실히 북미 지역이라 세가 게임기들이 더 많은 느낌이더라고요. 닌텐도 게임기도 곧잘 눈에 보이고요.
 검떠: 일본은 솔직히 하드 오프나 스루가야 같은 전문 일본 게임기 매장이 있어서 궁금하지 않은데.. 북미 지역은 생소하다보니 설레이네요.

 모처럼 북미판 게임기를 하나 사볼까 싶었지만 저절로 지갑에서 손이 내려가더라는...

 검떠: 오? 이건 좀 특이하네요. 케이스가 아예 별도로 준비되어 있네요? 투명 케이스라는 거죠?
 조기자: 네에. 저는 이 케이스를 여기서 처음 봤습니다. 아무래도 보관하기 애매하다보니 이렇게 별도로 세팅한 것 같더라고요. 오리지널인가 싶어서 북미 분들에게 물어보니 오리지널 케이스는 까맣다고.. 생각해보니 저도 북미판은 까만색 케이스로 가지고 있거든요. 그래서 이렇게 보관되어 있는 게 신기했습니다. 
 물론 오리지널 게임들도 당연히 따로 배치되어 있었고요.

 검떠: 이야~~ 대단한데요. 정말 다양한 기종의 게임들이 엄청나게 쌓여 있었군요. 덕분에 정말 진귀한 경험을 했네요.
 조기자: 그렇죠? 정말로 네바다 지역에 가실 일이 있으면 한 번쯤 방문해볼만한 게임샵이라고 할만합니다. 다양한 굿즈에다 다양한 스펙트럼 넓은 게임들을 통으로 구경할 수 있었거든요. 
 이외에도 다양한 퍼즐이나 보드 게임도 있었는데, 사진 두세 장 정도 소개하고 갈음하겠습니다.

 조기자: 이대로 끝내긴 다소 아쉬워서, 위 플레이 게임즈 옆에 검색을 해봤더니 조그마한 레트로 장난감 판매점이 위치해있더군요. 그래서 거기도 다녀왔습니다. 분위기를 알 수 있도록 그곳도 살짝 살펴보겠습니다. 길 건너편에 위치해있었고, 걸어서 10분 정도 걸린 것 같습니다.

 조기자: 휴.. 여기까지 할까요? 출장 당시에는 꽤나 힘들었는데, 이제는 좀 여독이 풀렸습니다. 12일에 한국에 돌아와서 3일 정도 지났으니까요. 이 글이 올라갈 때는 4일 뒤겠군요. 검떠님도 같이 갔으면 좋았을텐데 아쉽고요, 다양한 사진으로라도 궁금증이 해소되었으면 좋겠습니다. 오늘도 수고 많으셨습니다.
