 [TV리포트=한수지 기자] 팝페라 테너 임형주가 엄마의 무관심으로 인해 사기 피해를 당했다고 고백했다. 
 25일 방송된 TV조선 예능 프로그램 '아빠하고 나하고'에서는 팝페라 테너 임형주가 어머니와 일상을 공개했다.
 이날 어머니 헬렌 킴은 임형주와 깍두기를 담그던 중 친분이 두터운 유인경 기자를 초대했다. 어머니는 유인경에 대해 "임형주 멘토 1호였을 거다. 형주를 10살 때부터 봤으니까 30년 본 거 아니냐? 해가 바뀔때 성장하는 걸 보면서 모든 희노애락을 함께했다"라고 밝혔다. 이어 "그러다 보니까 반찬을 가져가라고 불렀다"라고 말했다. 이에 임형주는 유인경 뿐 아니라, 김수현 작가, 방송인 백지현, 전 대통령 내외 등 어머니가 손님 대접을 하는 것을 좋아한다고 부연했다. 
 유인경은 케이크를 건네며 임형주의 용산문화재단 이사장 취임을 축하했다. 이에 어머니는 카레라이스와 갓 담은 깍두기를 대접했다. 식사를 맛있게 하던 유인경은 임형주 엄마에게 "(오늘 취임식에서) 어떤 축하를 해줬나?"라고 물었다. 임형주 엄마는 "무슨 축하냐"라며 "내가 차를 태워서 왔잖아, 문화재단에서 여기까지"라고 생색을 내자, 유인경은 "그게 축하해준 거라고?"라면서 놀랐다.
 임형주는 "원래 예고도 없이 못 온다고 했다가 임명장 받기 전에 오셨다. 오신 게 신기하다"라고 담담히 말했다. 엄마가 "원래 나 (아들 시상식) 안 가잖아, 알잖아"라는 반응을 보이자, 유인경은 "그래도 칭찬해 줄건 해줘야지"라고 타박했다.

 이를 듣던 임형주는 "오늘 한번 간 걸로 다 상쇄가 된거냐?"라며 "이번 임명식도 내가 좀 떨린다고 했다. 그러면 잘할 수 있다고 해주면 되는데, 그것마저도 '야 그게 뭐가 떨려?' 그런 식으로 얘기하더라. 담대해지라는 뜻이지만, 어떤 면에서는 더 서운하다"라며 속내를 고백했다.
 유인경은 "엄마의 무관심에 내성이 생기지 않냐? 아직도 서운하냐?"라고 물었다. 이에 임형주는 "아무리 세상이 날 인정해 주고, 남들이 날 좋게 봐줘도 정작 집안에서 인정을 못 받으니까, 어느 순간 다 부질없어 보이더라"라고 말해 안타까움을 자아냈다.
 이어 임형주는 "제 마음속에 깊이 박혀있는 건 엄마의 지적이 거기서 끝나는 게 아니라 과거 교집합을 만든다"라며 "예를 들면 (엄마가) '네가 그래서 주위에 사람이 없다', '그래서 사람들이 질리는 거다'라고 한다. 눈물이 왈칵 난다"라고 서운함을 토로했다. 이에 당황한 어머니는 "얘 미친 거 아니냐? 네가 자랑을 많이 하지 않냐. 상대방 입장에서는 재수가 없는거다"고 받아쳤다. 임형주는 "자랑이 아니라 팩트를 나열한거다"라고 해명했지만, 유인경은 "그게 자랑이다"라고 말해 웃음을 자아냈다. 그러면서도 유인경은 "왜 자랑을 하고 다니겠나. 엄마가 인정을 안 해주기 때문"이라고 지적해 임형주의 공감을 이끌었다. 
 임형주는 "그래서 나에게 와서 칭찬을 듬뿍 해주면 푹 빠진다"라며 "제가 돈도 많이 뜯겼다. 떼인 걸 다 계산해 보니 지금까지 한 8000만 원 정도 뜯겼더라"라고 밝혀 충격을 안겼다.
